Mac Folders Modified Date Hacked

A) Creation date: touch –t YYYYMMDDhhmm theFile b) Modified date: touch –mt YYYYMMDDhhmm the File Examples: touch –t 25 theFile.txt touch –mt 26 theFile.txt If you need to do on a set of files, use find & xargs. Aug 05, 2009  I currently have it set to by date modified, however it is not accurate. For example, when I download something, it will often be near the bottom of the list, rather than the first item in the downloads folder. However, I have a stack for the downloads folder, and it organizes them.correctly. I need to update the 'Date Modified' property of files and folders as they are copied from one location to the other so that 'Date Modified' = Current System Time. I have a PC with Windows 7, and I do NOT have administrative rights on it, so I can't install any custom utilities. My current bat file uses XCOPY. Find files modified in the last 24 hours. Find / -mtime -1 -print Find files modified today (likely what you want) find / -newerct 'yesterday' -print or, using Spotlight. Mdfind date:today This can also be done from the GUI with Spotlight. Open Spotlight (option-command space by default). Sep 19, 2018  Typically the files inside the folders will maintain their correct timestamps (created + modified dates), just the folders will lose this data. This tool simply scans all folders/sub-folders and finds the newest modified date on the files contained inside, and then updated the folder modified date.

I currently have it set to by date modified, however it is not accurate. For example, when I download something, it will often be near the bottom of the list, rather than the first item in the downloads folder. However, I have a stack for the downloads folder, and it organizes them *correctly* (one item doesn't seem right, but that's it).
It seems to be doing this because some downloaded items have custom date modified and created dates from when I downloaded them. I downloaded an application demo today, August 1st 2009, but it says May 2008 for date modified and created.
So, how can I organize the items by purely 'Date Downloaded' ?
Thanks.
